The Architects' Journal is a weekly architectural magazine published in London by Emap.

History

The first edition was produced in 1896. Originally named The Builder's Journal and Architectural Record, from 1906 to 1910 it was known as The Builder's Journal and Architectural Engineer, and it then became The Architects and Builder's Journal from 1911 until 1919, at which point it was given its current name.[2]

Architects' Journal today

The Architects' Journal (commonly referred to by architects as the AJ) has been at the heart of the UK architecture industry since 1895, helping architects solve problems, inspiring their design process and providing them with new opportunities. The AJ does this by providing strategic advice on running an architecture practice, up-to-the-minute architecture news, in-depth news analysis, comprehensive building studies, technical details, competition updates so you can be among the first to know about the latest opportunities, as well as letting you know who's won what, and the latest regulatory and legislative updates so you stay legal and avoid litigation. [3]

In 2011, the Architects' Journal launched the ajbuildingslibrary.co.uk: A research tool giving you access to 2,300+ exemplar buildings from the last 111 years with plans, products and team information, allowing you to research precedents and get inspiration without leaving the office.

In June 2012, the magazine had a circulation of 6,714.[4] Three years later (June 2015), this figure had risen slightly to 6,817.[1]
