Bala Falls

South Falls

The Bala Falls are a waterfall in Ontario, Canada, previously the site of a First Nations portage and now a tourist destination for the town of Bala. As of 2015, the falls have been the site of hydroelectric dam construction for ten years.[1][2]

Some residents have been fighting the project, believing that the Bala Falls may be harmed by the construction. Save The Bala Falls is one of the groups behind the initiative.[3]

The Fight For Bala, a documentary by Rob Stewart (director of "sharkwater") and Jonah Bryson explores the issue and the importance of the falls.[4] [5]
