The Beast in the Cellar is a 1970 British horror film written and directed by James Kelley. The film was produced by Leander Films and Tigon British Film Productions.
Plot
Soldiers in a rural military base are being brutally murdered. They suspect a wild cat. Two local ladies: Joyce Balentine (Flora Robson) and Ellie (Beryl Reid) suspect it may be their brother, Steven (Dafydd Havard); a man who has been locked in a basement for thirty years.

Production
The Beast in the Cellar was filmed in Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England.[1]
Release
The film was released in the UK on August 1970 and in the U.S. on 14 April 1971. The film was later released in Finland and West Germany in 1973. The film would later have its television premiere in Spain on 10 October 1998.[2]
Reception
The film has received mixed to negative reviews from critics, it currently has a 4.5/10 on IMDb.[3]
DVD release
The film was released in the UK on DVD by Anchor Bay as part of The Tigon Collection. In the US the DVD was distributed by Liberty Media.[4] The film was released on DVD again on 14 February 2006 by Trinity Entertainment.[5]
