The Classical Academy (TCA) is a kindergarten through twelfth grade charter school located in northern Colorado Springs, Colorado. Its mission statement is "The Classical Academy exists to assist parents in their mission to develop exemplary citizens equipped with analytical thinking skills, virtuous character, and a passion for learning, all built upon a solid foundation of knowledge."[1] TCA blends classical education with the educational philosophy of Charlotte Mason.[2]

The school has a uniform policy.

The school is also known for having an extensive waiting list, with over 5,400 students on the current waiting list for all grades combined.

TCA's web site points out that TCA "ranked #1 of 364 Colorado high schools," according to "Colorado School Grades, a coalition of 18 community organizations whose mission is to grade Colorado schools to provide community members with school performance information."[3]

Position on Common Core

In January 2014, TCA's Board of Directors released a resolution expressing opposition to imposition of the Common Core Standards Initiative.[4]

TCA High School and TCA Junior High are located at 975 Stout Road (0.4 miles northeast of Oracle's Colorado Springs Field Office).

Athletics

All of the main sports compete in Colorado's 3A athletic conference, excluding cross country which competes at the 4A level as of 2012. The TCA Titans have won numerous state championships in various sports. This includes nine consecutive years in girl's cross country and two consecutive in men's; also a state championship in women's soccer and two runners-up in men's soccer.
