The Co-operative Electrical is the trading name of Co-operatives E-Store Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Co-operative Group, based in Manchester.[1] Established in 2001, customers can earn a share of the profits in proportion to purchases through The Co-operative Membership scheme.

The business has a customer satisfacton rating of 98%.[2] In 2015 The Co-op became the first retailer to start selling its extended warranties at cost price after they gained a reputation for being poor value with many other retailers aggressively selling warranties with a high profit margin. [3]

Operations

Major appliances and large-screen televisions (40" and above) are delivered from distribution centres in Barnsley, Selkirk and Luton, free of charge, and can arrive next day. Customers select a preferred delivery date when placing smaller orders; the carrier then contacts them via text message on the morning of delivery to provide a 60 minute time slot.[4] The Co-operative operates a partnership scheme with over 100 credit unions, which offer loans to finance the purchases.[5]

Membership

Members of The Co-operative Group and participating regional societies earn one membership point for every £1.00 spent at The Co-operative Electrical. Points are converted into dividend at a rate agreed annually by the Board.[6]
