Production history
The Comedy About a Bank Robbery is written by playwrights Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, who are part of the Mischief Theatre Company.[1] Their previous plays include The Play That Goes Wrong and Peter Pan Goes Wrong.[2] On 3 December 2015, it was announced the play would begin previews at the West End's Criterion Theatre on 31 March 2016,[3] with its official opening night coming on 21 April.[4] The play is directed by Mark Bell, with design by David Farley and costume design by Roberto Surace.[5]
Reviews
The Stage gave the production four stars out of five praising the show for being 'ambitious and surprising'.[6] However another early review criticised the 'Leslie Nielsen style wordplay gags' and 'set-pieces blatantly cribbed from Blackadder and Fawlty Towers'.[7]
