The Daughter is a 2015 Australian drama film written and directed by Simon Stone, starring an ensemble cast led by Geoffrey Rush. The film was released in Australia on 17 March, 2016 to generally favourable reviews.[2] The film is a reworking of Henrik Ibsen's The Wild Duck.

Plot

A man returns home to discover a long-buried family secret and attempts to make things right.[3]

The Daughter has received generally positive reviews from critics.[2] On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film currently holds an 80% approval rating based on 20 reviews, with an average rating of 7 out of 10.[3] On Metacritic, the film currently has a weighted average score of 73 out of 100 based on 4 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews".[2]
