The Detroit Experiment is the self-titled jazz/electronic album resulting from a collaborative project including DJ/producer Carl Craig, saxophonist Bennie Maupin, trumpeter Marcus Belgrave, pianist Geri Allen, and violinist Regina Carter, all natives or longtime residents of Detroit, Michigan.

The album is a follow-up to Ropeadope Records' earlier album, The Philadelphia Experiment, by Philadelphia natives.

Ropeadope later released another follow-up The Harlem Experiment.[1]
