The End is a 1978 American comedy-drama film directed by and starring Burt Reynolds, written by Jerry Belson, and composed by Paul Williams. The film also starred Dom DeLuise, Sally Field, Strother Martin, David Steinberg, Joanne Woodward, Norman Fell, Myrna Loy, Kristy McNichol, Pat O'Brien, Robby Benson, and Carl Reiner.

Plot

Wendell Sonny Lawson has six months to live. Not wanting to live his last few months, he decides to commit suicide. After failing suicide attempts, he ends up at a psychiatric hospital, where he meets a very disturbed fellow patient who agrees to help him in his quest for suicide. However, Sonny apparently kills himself in a bad way.
