The Gifted are an American film score composer and music production duo consisting of James Bairian and Louis Castle.
History
Bairian and Castle began working together in 1995 as members of The Hippos, playing bass and trumpet, respectively.[1][2]
Music production
They are known for their work with Kossisko, Dresses and Hot As Sun.
Film composing
The duo wrote, produced and recorded the score for Southbound. According to Castle, "We really did try to be true to the early 80’s aesthetic and we did everything with all analog synth stuff. They’re all analog systems, so we had to find a way to kind of marry our limitations with a lot of analog keyboards. It was a fun logistical exercise." He adds, "You don’t want it to just be a throwback. I really tired to also make it something that was… If you listen, there’s a lot of nuance hidden in those layers, a lot of sound design that works with the music."[3][4][5]
