The Gregg School is a non-selective coeducational independent day school in Townhill Park, Southampton, Hampshire, UK. It is currently situated in Townhill Park House, where it has been since 1994. Founded in Southampton in 1901 it now has a roll of over 300 and over 50 staff. The Gregg School is not a fully academically selective school. Selection is made through an entry assessment and references from the student’s previous school. The School's head, Mr Hart retired in 2010 after 39 years of service and was replaced by Mrs Sellers, a former Head Girl at the School and formerly the School's Deputy Headteacher.[1] The school's trust also owns St Winifred's School, an independent school for 2-11 year olds also based in Southampton, currently one of the top 100 Preparatory schools in the country.
Arts
An annual musical is held in the Spring term, and usually involves a large proportion of students from all year groups.
The School's various musical ensembles, together with solo performers, are involved in a range of concerts throughout the year, being particularly in demand during the run up to Christmas.
Charity and Community
The school has a proud history of supporting charitable causes, raising over £12,000 in 2013-14, a significant amount for a school with around 300 students. The annual craft and gift fair raised £1500, donated to the Rose Road Association. The school, like many others holds non-uniform days for the BBC's Children in Need appeal and Comic Relief.
Former pupils
The school's alumni include Millvina Dean, last survivor of the RMS Titanic.
The school has recently started an Alumni Association[2] which has held two successful reunion events, with more events planned. The Alumni Association publishes a bi-annual newsletter, the Gregorian, which contains news and coverage of Alumni and School events.
