The Hitsquad (poker)
The Hitsquad is a group of five professional poker players from London, England:
- James Akenhead
- Praz Bansi
- Charles Chattha
- Sunny Chattha
- Karl Mahrenholz
The group first met in August 2005 whilst playing poker as beginners at The Gutshot Poker club in London, England. Impressed with each other's poker abilities they decided to share poker strategy and discuss ways they could improve their poker skills as a group. Soon after meeting they started touring the UK, European & World Poker tournament circuit.
Since the formation of 'The Hitsquad' the five have had success on the UK, Europe & World poker tournament circuit with winnings in excess of $9,000,000 between them. The group hold many poker titles but most notably two WSOP Bracelets,[1] (both by Praz Bansi), six GUKPT titles (Praz Bansi (2),[2] Sunny Chattha (2),[3] Karl Mahrenholz (1)[4]) Chaz Chattha (1),[5] and a Poker Million[6] title (James Akenhead). In 2009 Bansi and Akenhead both signed sponsorship deals with Full Tilt Poker.[7][8]
World Series of Poker (WSOP)
The Hitsquad has had very notable success at the WSOP which is held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada and the WSOPE which is held annually in Europe. As of 2013 the group has 2 victories (bracelets) and 67 money finishes (Sunny Chattha (19), James Akenhead (13), Praz Bansi (13), Karl Mahrenholz (12), Charles Chattha (10) (the highest paid being Akenhead's 9th-place finish at the 2009 Main Event for $1,263,602).
Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT)
Launched in 2007,[9] the GUKPT is a poker tour held in various locations of the United Kingdom. The Hitsquad has 6 victories and 27 money finishes (Sunny Chattha (8), Karl Mahrenholz (6), Chaz Chattha (5), Praz Bansi (4), James Akenhead (4).
