"The Horses" is a song written by Rickie Lee Jones and Walter Becker. It originally appeared on Jones' 1989 album Flying Cowboys. Whilst not released as a single, the original version did appear in the 1996 film Jerry Maguire, and was also included on the film's soundtrack.

The song was covered by Daryl Braithwaite on his 1990 album Rise. It was released as a single in January, 1991 and reached No. 1 on the Australian charts. "The Horses" was certified platinum in Australia by ARIA.[1] Margaret Urlich provided the female vocals in the song; however, she chose not to appear in the music video due to other work commitments. Model Gillian Mather lip synced Urlich's voice for the video. The song is also traditionally sung at Bruce Hall college at the Australian National University.

The song was covered by Kenny Loggins on his 1994 album Return to Pooh Corner, and by Taylor Henderson on his 2013 self-titled album.
