"The Hostage" is a song by American singer Donna Summer. It was the first single from Summer's debut album Lady of the Night, which was released in Europe but not any other continent. This song, released from the album in 1974, became her first hit song in any country when it reached number-one on the Belgian pop charts, and number two in the Netherlands.[1] It would be a year later that Summer would release material in her native America; doing so with the single "Love to Love You Baby".
