The Hunted (2001) is a web series about a group of vampires who attack survivors and band together to avoid being turned into cattle. The Hunted learn to curb their blood

Episodes have been filmed by amateur and professional filmmakers throughout the United States. There have also been international episodes.[1][2]

History

The series began in 2001 and new episodes are still being created today, making it one of the longest running shows online. The show follows a misfit group of vampire slayers who have been bitten by vampires (but not yet turned into vampires) and their attempts to fight the bloodsucking vampires. The vampires, however, have become invulnerable to the usual methods of disposing of bloodsuckers, and the only way to kill them is with a sword.[3] Over the years, the show has developed an International fan base. This was instrumental in securing financing for The Hunted Feature Film.

Feature Film

The Hunted received financial support in June, 2011, via a Kickstarter campaign. The funds raised were used to finance creation of a feature film based on the series. The film was shot in August, 2012, and post-production was completed in March, 2015.[4] The series has also received support from New Deal Studios.[5]

Casting is flexible, and shoots are adaptable. One unique aspect of the show is its ability to attract a variety of skilled actors and directors. Filmmakers can take advantage of using locations, such as the Hollywood Bowl, for a quick weekend shoot. It would be expensive or impossible to use a location such as that for longer periods of time.[6] The Hunted features Hollywood actors and stunt coordinators in the filming of its episodes, and simultaneously get feedback from the general public. Because it is a web series based almost entirely on user content, virtually anyone, anywhere may shoot an episode.[5][7][8][9] Some better-known cast members who have been in the series include Robert Chapin, Anthony De Longis, Roberta Brown, Andrew Helm, and Reuben Langdon.[10]
