The Joker is a 4D Free Spin roller coaster under construction at Six Flags Great Adventure amusement park in Jackson, New Jersey, USA, manufactured by S&S Worldwide. The roller coaster is expected to open summer of 2016.[1][2]
When originally announced in September 2015, The Joker was given the name Total Mayhem. Then on January 27, 2016, Great Adventure renamed the coaster after a DC Comics villain.[1][3] The park felt like the name fitted more with this style of roller coaster giving the history of the Joker character. Instead of the yellow and red track color scheme, the new scheme of purple and green will help suit the new name of the roller coaster. This new title on the roller coaster, will bring the park to its seventh DC Comics themed roller coaster in 2016, most of any other Six Flags Park.
Ride
The Joker is an S&S Worldwide '4D Free Spin' roller coaster where riders zig zag along the track. Riders can flip head over heels up to six times throughout the ride in a somewhat uncontrolled manner.[3] The ride is second of its kind behind the success of Batman that opened in 2015 at Six Flags Fiesta Texas.[2][4] The coaster will be located where Fort Independence was on the southern-most part of the park, along the lake. It is hoped the ride will open opening day in March of 2016 though its possible it may be later in the spring.
