The Justin Merritt Band is an American Texas Country group from West Louisiana composed of Justin Merritt, Trent Procell, Waylon Salter and Cody Black. In 2010, they released their debut album 100 Proof. Their sophomore album All in Due Time is set to be released in early 2016.

History

Justin Merritt grew up in rural Louisiana and began writing songs at an early age. In 2007, The Justin Merritt Band was formed as an outlet for showcasing Merritt's songwriting. After several months of preparation, the band chose 18 of their strongest songs to comprise their self-produced debut album 100 Proof. Upon its release in mid-2010, the album was well received regionally.[1]

Notable Accomplishments

The Justin Merritt Band has opened for many renowned artists including Kevin Fowler, Justin Moore, JB and the Moonshine Band, The Departed, Mark Wills, Rhet Atkins, Brandon Ryder, Chris Knight, Casey James, Bo Phillips and many others.[2] In 2012, The Justin Merritt Band appeared with American Idol alum Casey James and JB and the Moonshine Band at the historic Strand Theatre as part of the Taste of Country Christmas Tour.[3]

Style

The Justin Merritt Band's music walks the line between country music's storied past and its uncharted future. By taking the everyday, working man storytelling of country music and cross pollinating it with full-tilt no holds barred Southern Rock.[4] This high energy band blends a fusion of Country and Rock with a little Red Dirt sound thrown in to make up their own unique brand of music with original recordings and remixes of some old favorites.[5] Merritt's music has been compared to that of alternative-country artists such as Cross Canadian Ragweed, Randy Rodgers, and Stoney LaRue.[1]
