The K-Factor: So You Think You Can Knit? was a fictional TV show ran by Harry Hill, as a segment of Harry Hill's TV Burp. The first episode was aired on 6 February 2010, with a preview of the show being airing on 30 January. The judges are Knitted Simon Cowell, Knitted Cheryl Coles, Knitted Rolando Villazón (with Harry referring to him as Knitted Rolando off Popstar to Operastar) and the Knitted Character.

Each episode lasts approximately five minutes and the viewers can then log onto the official TV Burp website to vote for their favourite. Also available on the site is The K Factor: Unravelled, where Knitted Holly Willoughby will talk to either the contestants or the judges, much like The Xtra Factor. Peter the Duck became the winner of the series. All 7 5-minute mini-episodes plus the Unravelled episodes have been merged into a one-hour compilation episode for Harry Hill's TV Burp Gold 3 DVD.

Notable contestants

Peter the Duck

Peter the Duck was a cute wingless duck who was knitted and entered into the competition by Andrew Hunt, who is (as of June 2012) Head of Modern Languages at Whitgift School in Croydon, Surrey. Knitted Cheryl Coles didn't let him go through in the first round of the K Factor competition, saying famously "You've haven't got any wings, pet. I'm sorry, it's a no.". Many people subsequently joined a Facebook campaign to get Peter re-auditioned believing he was discriminated against because of his disability, but when knitted Simon Cowell phoned Peter to tell him, Peter was unable to pick up due to his lack of wings. David Chapman, Peter's agent, pursued the campaign by speaking to the Croydon Guardian on Peter's behalf.[1]

In the third episode, which was a knitted Harry Hill special, Peter made a return disguised as Harry Hill but was rejected once more. When Knitted Simon Cowell's head was cut off, Peter went to a hospital to help him by giving thread, however he was told to 'beat it' by the doctor, so in disappointment, Peter walked off. Peter auditioned for Michael Winner's Dining Stars but eventually, he was kicked out of the show and in despair, Peter attempted suicide by jumping off a cliff but Knitted Simon Cowell caught him while he was falling and he proudly announced that he was finally through! Peter went on to win the series.

He had a brief cameo in Series 11, when he was said to be the Knitted Character's stunt double.

Winston Stimpson

Winston Stimpston was a red-orange knitted item, who was the first finalist of the series.

In the first round, he was put through by Knitted Simon Cowell after Winston told him that he was accidentally put into a washing machine at a point in his life. He was announced as a finalist in the following episode.

During round three it was revealed that Knitted Cheryl Coles' husband Knitted Ashley had been sending Winston tapestries of himself in his pants, and Winston sold his side of the story to Piers Morgan in the end after lots of chaotic comments it was announced Winston came out as gay.

In the next series he helped the Knitted Character try to kill Harry after the knitted character was replaced by a feather duster from Downton Abbey. Winston cut a rope tied to an anvil that Harry was standing under but Harry got out of the way before it could hit him.

Bessie

Bessie was a dog who wore a green-white knitted dog blanket. She was put through by Knitted Rolando and she was announced as the fourth finalist in the following episode. She is a dachshund.

Harry Hill Meerkat

Harry Hill Meerkat (incorrectly spelt Meercat on the site) was a meerkat who was dressed up as Harry Hill for Harry Hill Week. He was put through and was announced in the following episode as the third finalist. He was teamed up with Tommy Trundle for The K Factor: On Ice.

Tommy Trundle

Tommy Trundle was a knitted elephant and became the 2nd finalist of the series. He was put through by Knitted Simon Cowell in his audition, by begging Simon. He was then put with Harry Hill Meerkat for The K Factor: On Ice, which was the Grand Final.

Brian the Groom

In the fourth episode of the show, married couple Brian and Caroline went to the auditions. Caroline went through, but Brian didn't. Brian became angry and returned to the show. He cut off Knitted Simon's head, which resulted in an operation. Knitted Simon Cowell's head was stitched back on, although it was stitched back on backwards, in the following episode, Knitted Simon Cowell's head was the right way round.

Brian and Caroline appeared on Unravelled: Week 5 with Knitted Jeremy Kyle. The show, 'My wife dumped me for Simon Cowell the day after we got married', ends with a fight between Brian and Knitted Simon Cowell. Caroline did not make it through to the Not Live Final, but she did appear in the audience of the Not Live Final.

Knitted Tiger Woods

In the fourth episode of the series, Knitted Tiger Woods appeared on the show. The Knitted Professional Golfer was on the show to apologise about his personal life but was rejected by all the judges.

Knitted Spider-Man

In the second episode of the show, a contestant called "Knitted Spider-Man" protested while on the auditions. He was kicked out by security following his rallying cry of 'fathers for justice'.

Not Live Final

On 13 March 2010, The K Factor Final was aired and was an 'On Ice' special with the episode much reflecting fellow ITV Show, Dancing On Ice. It featured none of the original judges but in fact the Dancing on Ice, Knitted Ice Panel and was presented by Knitted Phillip Schofield and Knitted Holly Willoughby

The Not Live Final featured five finalists, who had all received the most results from the past 5 episodes. The finalists were, in time order, Winston Stimpson, Tommy Trundle, Harry Hill Meerkat, Bessie and Peter the Duck.

The contestants were put into couples, but, with an odd number of contestants, Peter the Duck had no partner. Winston teamed up with Bessie while Tommy Trundle was with the Harry Hill Meerkat.

Peter skated first and received a very low score and a critical comment from Knitted Jason Gardiner.

Tommy Trundle and Harry Hill Meerkat skated second before a final performance by Winston Stimpson and Bessie. Winston, during his training highlights, had tragically broken his leg during the Dress Rehearsal but vowed to continue but did state he could die. However, a late program change was successful and, choosing the popular Bolero music and the couple pulling off a huge lift, they received 6's across the board.

However, Harry Hill admitted the Ice Panels scores had no reflection and the viewer's winner would be announced on Saturday, 20 March 2010, resulting in Peter the Duck as the overall winner.
