The King's School, Manila
The King's School, Manila (or "King's") is a British Curriculum international school serving the expatriate community in Parañaque City, Philippines. The school is currently open for children in early years and primary and will expand over the next few years to include secondary.[1]
Administration
The school is British owned and managed and run on a day-to-day basis by the school's Headteacher. King's is governed by the British Schools Foundation, a British organisation that aims to promote quality British-style education worldwide.
Curriculum
The school follows the English National Curriculum, which is one of three main internationally recognised curricula. Students who graduate from National Curriculum schools therefore can choose to study in most universities worldwide without requiring to sit additional examinations.
The National Curriculum is known for its structure which outlines detailed teaching requirements including minimum teaching hours for subjects.
Student body
The school was opened in August 2012 with a capacity for 500 students. The school has a diverse student body, with expatriate and local pupils. Enrolment at the school is selective, and the school has an enrolment policy limiting the number of non-English speaking students.
Location and facilities
King's is located along Manila Bay within the Aseana City reclamation area, 15 minutes away from the central business district in Makati and immediately south of the City of Manila.
The school has a wide range of modern facilities. Classrooms are bright and well-equipped. School-wide wifi, interactive whiteboards, Apple Macintosh laptops and iPads are available in every classroom and learning space at the school and are daily tools used by students and teachers.
Specialist areas such as art rooms, science labs, libraries and media labs are well-equipped. Modern indoor and outdoor sports and performing arts areas provide space for learning, competition and performance.
