RE: The Ozark Mountain Daredevils E.P. insert - "Establish Yourself, "Journey To The Center Of Your Heart," "Time Warp"

I am going to try to explain, as fully as possible, why the inclusion of the three song E.P. in the forthcoming OMD album is absolutely imperative. The Daredevils, to a man, voiced the desire to include the above mentioned songs as part of their new album. To do this meant excluding two or three songs presently on the album. I fought this idea primarily because the flow and feel of the new material did not, in my estimation meld evenly with the older tunes on the E.P.

The band stated quite frankly that to exclude the songs and the humor inherent in them, was to avoid the essence of who they are, i.e., THE OZARK MOUNTAIN DAREDEVILS. They know as well as anyone, not everybody is going to respond positively to the type of humor. They also know that a great many people will. They know this because they have seen it work. I myself have seen it work. In Kansas City when I first saw them, again in St. Louis and on countless other occasions. I personally respond greatly to the type of humor, as do many other people. If you negate this humor and look merely to the music, as you want it to be, then you are missing the point of who these people are. You cannot judge "Time Warp" and "Journey To The Center Of Your Heart" on purely musical terms. It is a rural satire...people looking at themselves and laughing...looking at their parents, their peers, their leaders and teachers.

Their feelings about the E.P. are..."if you don't dig it, throw it away, roll it up and smoke it, send it to someone you hate. If, on the other hand, you dig it...then play it."

All I know for sure is that this group is named "THE OZARK MOUNTAIN DAREDEVILS"...it's no accident that these six people call themselves that.
