The Mall School is an independent preparatory day school for boys, in Twickenham, London. The boys enter the infant school at the age of 4. They then automatically transfer to the junior school, then eventually, the senior school before leaving for a range of senior schools at the age of 13. The majority of boys go on to some of the leading London day schools, particularly St. Paul's School, Hampton School and King's College School. Some pupils choose a wide range of boarding schools. As a prep school, The Mall School specialises in preparing boys for pre-tests, Common Entrance or Scholarship Entry to their senior school. This school also puts a lot of pressure on the boys and can stress out every type of parent with its amount of homework. The reason for this is that it is not one, not two, but THREE years ahead of the national curriculum, meaning these boys are practically going through GCSE revision in Year 8.
Facilities
School facilities include: a 160-seat theatre; science labs; an art studio; an ICT suite; a library; interactive whiteboards (throughout most of the school); an indoor swimming pool; and rugby, football and cricket pitches in Bushy Park.
School Lunches
School lunches offer a balanced choice of foods. All cooking is done on the premises. Each day there is a choice of hot foods or fresh salads. Over a four-week cycle, there is always a variety of meat. Fish is always offered once a week. There is a choice of vegetables, and the boys are encouraged to eat them. Dessert choices always include fresh fruit and yogurt. The boys are always provided with jugs of water to drink. However these have been known to run out before the boys towards the end of lunch can drink. Also, often when there is a dish that is very popular, the last boys into lunch get a substitute as the school has run out.
Link with Chitsime School (Malawi)
The Mall School has formed a partnership with Chitsime School in Malawi. It is the focus of many of their fundraising activities and they aim to help the school in as many ways that are practicable. The pupils are aware of the privileged situation they enjoy and are highly motivated to support the partnership they have with Chitsime School.
In the last two years, boys at The Mall have raised over £14,000 to provide brand new classrooms for Chitsime School.
