The Overcoat (Italian: Il Cappotto) is a 1952 Italian fantasy-drama film directed by Alberto Lattuada. It is based on a short tale of the same name written by Nikolai Gogol.

Plot

The story of a very poor city-hall clerk (Renato Rascel) whose only desire is to own a new overcoat.

Renato Rascel receives the Nastro d'Argento in 1953 for The Overcoat

Special Nastro d'Argento to Renato Rascel for the creation of the leading character. The film was also entered into the 1952 Cannes Film Festival.[1]
