The Sandlot: Heading Home, known as The Sandlot Kids 3: Heading Home & The Sandlot 3: Heading Home, is the second direct-to-video sequel to the 1993 theatrical film The Sandlot and the first direct-to-video sequel The Sandlot 2. It was released straight to DVD on May 1, 2007. Unlike the two predecessors, David Mickey Evans does not write nor direct this film. The film stars Luke Perry, Danny Nucci and Sarah Deakins.

Plot

Successful, arrogant baseball superstar Tommy "Santa" Santorelli is knocked unconscious by a wild pitch, and wakes to all of his childhood friends, in the year 1976. When he attempts explanation to his mother, she calls the doctor, with whom he quarrels. Eventually, his mother sends him to play baseball with his friends. The next day, Tommy tells his story to team-mate Ryan, and later protects him from local bully E.J. Needman. After winning several games Tommy joins Needman's team; but ultimately returns to that of his friends, and wins the game for them. Upon return to his future, he learns that he has remained in communication with his old friends ever since this victory.

Reception

It currently holds a 54% on rotten tomatoes.

Heather Boerner of Common Sense Media gave the film four out of five stars, writing "If you mixed Back to the Future with A Christmas Carol and sprinkled in a liberal dose of baseball fandom, you'd end up with this sweet, fun baseball movie that entertains while it instructs."[1]
