The School for Field Studies

The School for Field Studies (SFS) is an international non-profit academic institution and the United States' largest environmental study abroad program for college undergraduates. Since 1981, it has provided fully accredited, college level environmental education and has conducted research to propose sustainable solutions to critical environmental problems for community clients through its five-year research plans.

SFS provides hands-on, interdisciplinary education and environmental research in partnership with natural resource dependent communities. Its goals are twofold: to provide students with transformational experiences that assist them in successfully advancing their careers as skilled professionals and globally aware citizens; and to work with local community stakeholders to develop models for sustainable management of their natural resources.
