- 6 January 1983 - Eric Brown (41), Protestant, and Brian Quinn (23), Catholic, both members of the Royal Ulster Constabulary, were shot dead by the Provisional Irish Republican Army while sitting in their stationary unmarked police car at Bridge Street, Rostrevor.
