The Void (virtual reality)

The Void (shortened from The Vision of Infinite Dimensions) is a virtual reality amusement park that will become functional for 2016 in Pleasant Grove, Utah.[1]

Summary

Imagine being placed into a video game or film where you not only see and hear the virtual world, you physically interact with all of its key elements. As virtual reality comes exploding back into the marketplace, it presents itself as an exciting but passive experience. "Players" find themselves wearing a VR-Headset, stuck in a chair or standing holding a game-controller as the primary physical connection to the virtual world they are exploring. What if you could put down the controller, stand up and explore that virtual space just as you do everyday in the real world, walking and fully interacting with the environment and objects you encounter. You would no longer just be playing a game, but experiencing new realities. Up until now this has been the subject of fantasy as portrayed in popular television, film, and science fiction novels; Yet here at THE VOID™ for the first time in history, on a commercially viable scale, we are making that fantasy a reality. It’s no longer about simply "playing" a game, but living inside a virtual experience with endless possibilities.

As "players" walk through the space, digital cameras track the user and reflect their position in the virtual environment as well. Physical objects like walls and torches also set in place in the real space. There are also more immersive elements added like mist, wind and vibration.

The creators have described The Void as "the next evolution" of social entertainment.[2][3]
