Theodore F. Craver Jr. is an American business executive. He has served as the chairman and chief executive officer and president of Edison International, a public utility holding company listed on the New York Stock Exchange with over 16,000 employees, since 2008.

Early life

Theodore F. Craver Jr. graduated from the University of Southern California, where he received a bachelor’s degree in economics and international relations and a master in business administration.[1][2][3]

Career

Craver worked Security Pacific Bank from 1973 to 1980 and for Bankers Trust from 1980 to 1984.[4] He subsequently served as the chief financial officer and executive vice president of First Interstate Bancorp between 1884 to 1996.[4][5]

Craver joined Edison International in 1996.[4] He served as its chief financial officer from 2000 to 2004.[5] Between 2004 and 2008, he served as its executive vice president as well as chairman, president and chief executive officer of Edison Mission Group.[5] He has served as its chairman and chief executive officer and president since 2008.[1] In 2009, Craver successfully negotiated for a solar energy contract for Edison "to install solar panels on unused commercial rooftops across Southern California."[6] The contract also allows the company to "solicit other solar-power companies to install similar panel arrays and sell the power back to Edison, up to an additional 250 megawatts."[6] Craver suggested this would strengthen the electrical grid in Southern California and create jobs.[6]

Craver has served on the board of directors of the Electric Power Research Institute since 2011.[7] He is a member of the Business Roundtable.[5] Since May 2015, he has served on the Economic Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.[8]

Craver serves on the board of directors of Health Net.[4]

Philanthropy

Craver serves on the board of trustees of the National Museum of American History and the Autry Museum of the American West.[1][5] He also serves on the California Board of Trustees of The Nature Conservancy.[1][2]

Personal life

Craver resides in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, California.[5]
