Theodoros Negris
Theodoros Negris (Istanbul, 1790 - Nafplio, November 22, 1824) was a Greek politician.
Biography
He was born in Istanbul and descended from an old noble family in Genova. Because of his good economic state, he acquired remarkable culture. In 1818 he was initiated into Filiki Eteria (Society of Friends) and he became one of its most active members.
He took part in the 1st and the 2nd National Assembly and subsequently allied with Theodoros Kolokotronis because he wanted to be ahead of Alexandros Mavrokordatos.
He was erratic and impatient. To look at him one would never guess that he was clever and deceitful. His ambitions in combination with his impatience, led him in conflict with Alexandros Mavrokordatos, who was ambitious too, as well as with other significant politicians at that period.
He died on 22nd November 1824 of typhus in Nafplio.
