Third Don Crossing Location of the Third Don Crossing within Aberdeen City |
The Third Don Crossing is being constructed by Balfour Beatty and is planned to open in February 2016.[2] [3] The single carriageway bridge is going to connect Gordon's Mills Road to the south and Fairview Street to the North. The bridge will allow traffic going from Danestone to Aberdeen City Centre without having to go through the notorious Haudagain Roundabout or take a detour down the Parkway and along Ellon Road and King Street. The Planned Berryden Corridor (dualling of Great Northern Road and Berryden Road) will support the extra traffic that will be put on Berryden Road when the bridge is complete, but the construction of the Berryden Corridor is set to start in 2016 if not later.[4] Another bridge across the River Don has been considered since the 1970s but in 2003 Aberdeen City Council decided to take the project forward, and in 2004 a preferred route was chosen.
