Thiruvavaduthurai also called as Thuraisai is a Beautiful Greenery Village well known for its Adheenam. It is one of the five most prominent Saiva Aadheenams (or monasteries) in South India. It is in this Great shrine that Thirumoolar wrote Thirumandhiram in Tamil, in more than three thousand verses, probably between the 4th and 6th centuries A.D., and is considered as one of the oldest and most important text of Yoga from South India. It is a work of Yoga, tantra, mysticism, mantra, kundalini and monistic theism. He lived in Thiruvavaduthurai for 3000 years and wrote each verses each year thus completing 3000 verses in 3000 years.
