"This Is How It Feels" was a 1990 single by the Inspiral Carpets written by Clint Boon. It was their first single to enter the UK Top 40, where it peaked at #14.[1] The single peaked at #149 on the Australian ARIA singles chart.[2]

The US music video for "This Is How It Feels" was inspired by the imagery of the British art duo Gilbert and George, making use of their signature "stained glass" and grid style and their standard iconography.

The single (radio) mix, remixed by Flood, features a different second verse with more oblique (and hence radio-friendly) lyrics (e.g. the line "seems they found him under a train" replaced by "left a note for a local girl").

The song was later covered by the band Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine.
