The thistletails (genus Asthenes in part), (formerly genus Schizoeaca) are birds in the family Furnariidae. They are found in highland forest, shrub and grassland in the Andes of South America. They have a mainly brown plumage, and most have grey underparts. All have long tails with pointed tips.
