Thomas Del Ruth, ASC is an American cinematographer.
Biography
He was born on May 1, 1942, in Beverly Hills, California, United States. He is the son of film director Roy Del Ruth,[2] and actress Winnie Lightner. He was educated at the University of Southern California and began working as a commercial print model and actor after serving as a paratrooper in the US Army (1965).
Del Ruth switched from being in front of the camera to being behind it in 1966 and was promoted to director of photography in 1979 by Universal Studios. Del Ruth has received two Emmy Awards for outstanding cinematography as well as five additional Emmy nominations. In addition, he has won four American Society of Cinematographers Outstanding Cinematography Awards as well as an additional six ASC nominations. He has experience as a cameraman, film producer and director.[3][4]
Del Ruth retired in 2005 to Bend, Oregon.[5]

Tom Del Ruth moved to Bend in 2005 with his wife, Patricia. After a career in the film industry for more than 45 years, the couple chose to retire in Central Oregon.
