Thomas Layng

Thomas Layng (18611930) was an educator and Church of England priest.

Biography

The son of the Revd Henry Layng of Foulden, Norfolk, Thomas Layng was at St John's School, Leatherhead, Oundle School and scholar of Jesus College, University of Cambridge.[1] He was the last clerical headmaster of Abingdon School (1893-1913) and had previously been a master at Shrewsbury School and second master at Cranleigh School. In 1913 he became chaplain of Clifton College and from 1916 to 1930 was rector of King's Stanley, Gloucestershire, where he is buried.
