Thorar

Thorar is a town in Poonch District in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. It is located about 20 miles from Rawalakot city, the capital of Poonch district.

Location

Thorar is a Tehsil of District Poonch (Rawalakot), Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and is connected to Rawalakot and Muzaffarabad by main roads. Its suburbs are Tain, Mang, Jassapeer, Bhalgran, Nar, Bosa Gala and Androt, Kheruta, Siranagala. The literacy rate in Thorar is over 75%. It is about 70 kilometres (43 mi) from Kohala, thorar is also linked to Rawalpindi, Islamabad (via the neighbouring areas of Azad Pattan and Dhalkot), and to Muzaffarabad via Kohalla. Majority of the people in Thorar belong to Sudhun(Sududai) tribe. People are very generous and helpful. There is one Govt.Boys Degree College, Govt.Girls College and some private colleges and schools for boys and girls. Named as Ghzaia-e- Millat public school thorar, Bright Future Public School Thorar, Little Angles public School Thorar and Iqra Public School Thorar

Occupation

There are very few jobs which are almost neglectable accordance to the population of area available here in Thorar.People of thorar are educated and they locally work in schools or services sector in Government of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir Mostly people of this area almost 60% work in abroad countries like Saudi Arabia , UAE and many more.

Sports

Mostly people of this area play cricket and volley ball.There are associations regarding to cricket.Every year a big tournament of volley ball is arranged here in which players from all our country including Pakistan participates.

Shopping

The town has few good bazaars where all essential commodities of life are easily available.
