Thumbport
A thumbport is a device which allows greater balance in holding a flute. It comprises a C-shaped shell and a thumb-like extension. Made of hard plastic on the outside for longevity, and soft plastic inside so as not to scratch the flute, the thumbport is attached to the flute providing a secure base for the right thumb to hold the instrument.[1]
