Todung Mulya Lubis, SH. (born at South Tapanuli, North Sumatra 4 July 1949) is a lawyer and activist in Indonesia. He founded The Law Office of Mulya Lubis and Partners in 1991 which was then known as Lubis Santosa and Maulana Law Offices.

Childhood and Adolescence

Childhood to adolescence many Todung spent on the island of Sumatra. After finishing primary school in Edinburgh, he went to secondary school in Pekanbaru, Riau and senior high school in Medan. After completing his studies in high school, Hood became interested in the legal world. This makes majored in law when he moved to Jakarta and continued his studies at the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia.

While still a student, Todung has become an activist. Initially debut as an opponent of power is when he and his colleagues protested against the construction of Taman Mini Indonesia. According to Todung, improvement in the lives of teachers and good public service is more urgent than the development of a park that is just simply a clone of what has been done in Thailand.

Pre career

In 1974, before the finished law school at the University of Indonesia, Todung internship at LBH (Legal Aid) Jakarta with his last position as Director of litigation. Todung later founded the division of human rights in LBH. For the first time in 1979, Legal Aid published a report on the state of human rights in Indonesia, which became the origin of similar reports were published regularly until now. After graduating from the University of Indonesia, Todung had continued the study of law to the Law School, University of California, Berkeley, USA and Harvard Law School, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.

In 1991, Todung founded the Law Office of Mulya Lubis and Partners are now better known as Lubis Santosa and Maulana Law Offices. Along with this institution, Todung Mulya Lubis much involved in the practice of corporate and commercial dispute resolution and corporate work.

He led a group of corporate and commercial practice in a large number of transactions. He also intensively involved and lead the company dispute resolution practices in the litigation group of high-profile companies. Todung been listed in Business Lawyers as a leading lawyer in dispute resolution in Indonesia (The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers as a leading lawyer in dispute resolution in Indonesia). The Asia Pacific Legal 500 edition - 2006/2007 also chose T Mulya Lubis, a prominent individuals who have a big impact in the practice of dispute resolution in Indonesia.
