Tom Kavaningilamo Alweendo is a Namibian businessperson and politician and the current Minister in the Presidency in charge of the National Planning Commission.[1] In 2003, he became the first Namibian Governor of the Bank of Namibia, when he replaced Jafaar bin Ahmad of Malaysia. From the mid-1990s until 2001, he was head of Air Namibia.

Alweendo earned a bachelor's degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Wales in the United Kingdom.

As Governor of the Bank of Namibia, he has maintained the Namibian Dollar's linkage with the South African Rand. He has also raised concerns about increasing amounts of government debt and questioned whether the massive financial expenditures on education produced better results.[2]
