Tomato sandwich
A tomato sandwich is a sandwich of tomatoes between slices of bread.[1] The bread of a tomato sandwich is typically spread with mayonnaise.[2] A tomato sandwich may also be seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic, anchovies,[3] parsley or basil.[4]
Seasonal preparation
In the state of North Carolina, tomato sandwiches are associated with summer.[5]
