Tomonobu Fujii (藤井 誠暢 Fujii Tomonobu, born 17 December 1980, in Tokyo) is a Japanese racing driver.[1]

Racing Kart / Formula race

He obtained second-hand Racing Kart in 1994 and made his debut in the local race when he was 13 years old. He won the championship right away and showed his talent in the local races. He continued to win a lot of victories in the local races and won the Series Championships twice. He stepped up to Formula race right after that but was forced to suspend the participation in the races due to lack of funds. He went out for sales to seek the sponsors in this one year of interval. He participated in Formula 4 in 2002 where he won two victories in a year and obtained Series 2nd as well as MVP. He got scholarship and participated in Formula Dream by HONDA for two years from 2003. He accumulated lots of experiences by obtaining Series 4th in 2004.

Super GT

He made his debut in Super GT, which is the top category in Japan in 2005. Once he started to race with Nissan 350Z, he got PODIUM four times and won the 4th position in 2006. He won his first championship in the opening race of SUPER GT in 2007 and competed for the Series Champion. He then got contract with NISMO as Factory Driver from 2008. He raced with Nissan 350Z in SUPER GT till 2008. He obtained 5th position in 2007 and 2008, and led plenty of experiences in GT racing to the good results. From 2010 to 2013, he got contract with Hankook Tire as Factory Driver and raced with Porsche GT3R (RSR) in that 4 years. He obtained Series 3rd in 2011 and Series 2nd in 2012. He contributed a lot to their tire development. He has been racing with Audi R8 LMS ultra since 2014. He is in the spotlight as SUPER GT driver with his experiences with lots of machines and he is one of the top drivers in SUPER GT who obtained total 7 victories.

Super GT / JAF Grand Prix FUJI SPRINT CUP

He obtained 3rd position with Porsche GT3R in 2010, 2nd position in 2011 and won the championship in 2012 in JAF Grand Prix FUJI SPRINT CUP held in FUJI SPEED WAY for four years from 2010 to 2013. This means he stood on the podium for consecutive three years in the individual race of SUPER GT.

Endurance race

He has been participating in Super Taikyu race along with Super GT in Japan for a long time. He raced with Nissan 350Z from 2006 to 2009 and won the Series Champion in 2007. He won the victory as the development driver of Nissan 370Z NISMO RC in 2010. He won three victories with Audi R8 LMS in 2011 and won the Series Champion for GT3 Class. He raced with Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 from 2012 to 2014. He also joined All Japan Endurance Championship held in Japan in both 2006 and 2007. He won the Series Championship in LMP2 class in 2006 and in LMGT1 class with Ferrari 550 GT1 in 2007. This means he won the Series Championship for consecutive two years.

He also has plenty of experiences in overseas races, and mainly participates in CRAFT RACING in Hong Kong and Aston Martin Vantage GT3. They are Asian Lemans and Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race and Dubai 24Hrs. He got 3rd place PODIUM in Dubai 24Hrs in 2013. And he also has experiences in 53rd ROLEX 24 AT Daytona 2015 with Flying Lizard Motorsports.
