Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play

The Tony Award for Best Revival (Play) has only been awarded since 1994. Prior to that, plays and musicals were considered together for the Tony Award for Best Revival. The award is given to the best non-musical play that has appeared on Broadway in a previous production.

As of 2016, A View from the Bridge is the only play to be nominated in three separate years for three separate productions in this category, also being nominated in 1983 when the category was called Tony Award for Best Revival. Nine plays have been nominated for the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play in two separate years for two separate productions: Inherit the Wind, Death of a Salesman (also nominated for Best Revival in 1984), The Best Man, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, A Raisin in the Sun, Twelfth Night, Long Day's Journey into Night, Noises Off, and The Crucible. Of these, only Death of a Salesman has won the award twice, in 1999 and 2012, also winning for its 1984 production when the category was called Best Revival.

With eight nominated productions, William Shakespeare holds the record as the most represented playwright in the category.
