Top Model po-russki, cycle 1 was the first cycle of the Russian adaptation of Tyra Banks' America's Next Top Model. The show aired on Muz-TV from April to May 2011. Contrary to the format of the original version of Top Model, two episodes were aired per week.

The competition was hosted by Ksenia Sobchak, who also served as the head judge. The judging panel comprised model Inna Zobova, designer Elena Suprun and photographer Mikhail Korolev. Other cast members included creative director Maxim Rapoport. Cast members from the original version such as Janice Dickinson, Jay Manuel and Tyra Banks made guest appearances on the show.

The international destination for the cycle was New York City.[1] The winner of the competition was 21-year-old Maria Lesovaya from Yekaterinburg.

Episode summaries

Episode 1

The thirty-four selected semi-finalists arrived in Moscow for the preliminary rounds of the competition. For their first challenge they had to walk in front of Ksenia, Inna and Maxim, choosing from three different styles of clothing. The three worst-performing girls were eliminated, leaving thirty-one to move on to the next round.

The following day, the girls had breakfast with Ksenia, followed by their first photo shoot and interviews with the judging panel. At the end of the episode, the final seventeen were selected.

Episode 2

The seventeen finalists moved into their new home - a colourful penthouse. They were excited to find Gillette Venus Embrace and Max Factor products in the house. Unfortunately there were only fifteen beds available, so two girls had to sleep on the floor.

The next day, fitness trainer Oksana Yashankina visited the girls to take their measurements and give them a fitness class, before bikini waxes were administered and the girls were visited by dermatologist Irina Andryushkina. The day after, Maxim visited the girls to give them bikinis to change into for their first official photo shoot atop the penthouse in cold weather. After the shoot, the girls held a birthday party for Valeria.

Just before judging panel, Maxim visited the girls again to give Valeria a bunch of flowers from her boyfriend, who appeared on the television screen and proposed to her.

At panel, the judges were unimpressed with most of the girls' photos, but Ksenia T. was declared the best performer of the week. Elena and Katya (who revealed that she was pregnant) landed in the bottom two. Elena's potential saved her and Katya became the first girl to leave the competition.

Episode 3

The girls arrived back at the penthouse after the first judging. Most of them were not surprised by Katya's elimination. Maria M. (or the diminutive, Masha) agreed with the elimination, while Olga was surprised to see her best friend go home. Having been called first at panel, Ksenia T had her photo displayed as digital art on the TV screen and received a congratulation letter from Ksenia Sobchak, telling her she had won a spa treatment.

The next day the girls were taken to their next challenge, in which they had to walk in front of Inna and guest judge Danil Kosenkov. After being given criticism about their walks the girls were asked to go backstage and change into outfits and walk again. There was tension between Evgenia T. and Irina after Evgenia picked up Irina's dress by mistake. Anastasia, Arina and Valeria were declared the best-performing contestants, and Anastasia won the challenge and chose Irina and Alyona to accompany her to the Maxim Rapoport fashion house to have their hair, makeup and nails done. Anastasia also won a dress from Maxim's collection Storm. When they arrived back at the house the girls were greeted by three producers for the radio station Europa Plus, who invited Valeria to appear on the station.

For the week's photo shoot, the girls shot a campaign for Bruno Banani with a male model. The judges were pleased with the results. Ksenia D. landed in trouble after confessing that she had modelled before the show, having previously not disclosed this. Liza's photo was declared the best, and Elena landed in the bottom two for the second week in a row alongside Ksenia D. Ksenia's strong photos saved her, and Elena was sent home.

Episode 4

In the beginning of the episode, Maria was sad about the elimination of Elena, who was her best friend in the house. There was drama between Ksenia D., Masha and Anastasia when the former two branded the latter fake.

The girls were taken to the Persona Lab salon for their makeovers. Some changes were drastic; for example Ksenia T.'s hair was dyed ice blonde, while Liza, Olga and Valeria received short haircuts. Meanwhile, Alyona refused to have her hair cut.

The next day the girls were given a challenge in applying makeup. The winner was Evgenia T, who received a Max Factor makeup kit as her prize.

For the week's photo shoot, the girls shot a campaign for Max Factor. At panel, the judges were pleasantly surprised with almost all the girls' photos. Ksenia T. won best photo once again, and in the bottom two were Alyona and Olga. The judges' verdict was that Olga was the eliminee, but in a twist, Ksenia put the decision in the hands of Alyona, giving her two options: she could choose to stay in the competition on the condition that she allow her hair to be cut, or she could leave the competition, saving Olga from elimination. Ultimately, Alyona chose the latter option.

Episode 5

The girls were taken to the Galla Dance lifestyle dance club for a dance class with gymnast Lyasan Utiasheva and choreographer and dancer Evgeny Papunaishvili. The best performs were Anastasia and Ksenia D. Ksenia D was chosen to win the challenge; her prize was a bonus of fifty frames at the next photo shoot. Karmela was eliminated because Lyasan and Evgeny felt she did not want to be in the competition. That evening, the girls celebrated Masha's birthday.

For the week's photo shoot, the girls posed with snakes. Some girls were afraid of the snakes, but they all pulled through. The judging panel awarded best photo to Ksenia V., while Ksenia D. was eliminated after landing in the bottom two for the second time.

Episode 6

The episode starts with the girls comments about Ksenia's D elimination, everybody agreed that she was a good friend and a mom of the house. Later the girls arrived at VinZavod where they meet Janice Dickinson. All the girls scream out with a joy when she comes out of the car. Later they have a tech with Kanice about showing off different emotions then they have a challenge where the main task was to pose using face cut-outs in famous photos of Ksenia Sobchak. Irina was declared as the winner and won a private dinner with Janice, she took Anastasia with her. The photoshoot this week was about Zodiac Signs. Janice was there as well, she guided the girls through the shoot. Where Evgenia Timakova, Ksenia Timofeeva and Irina excelled and Valeria, Masha and Liza failed. At panel the judges were pleasantly surprised by the results of the shoot, especially Irina, Ksenia T and Evgenia T. Valeria and Liza landed in the Bottom 2, Valeria for not being able to transform completely into a model even with an edgy hair-cut and Liza because nerves got best of her at shoot which lead to a bad photo. In the end it was Liza who was saved by the judges because they saw more potential in her. So Valeria was sent home which lead to a very emotional atmosphere among the girls. Liza burst into tears after receiving her photo.

Episode 7

Visiting our models - the lead singer of A'Studio Kathy Topuria. After talking with the star of the girls are sent to a military base, where they will go through an obstacle course. But this is only the beginning! Those who did not broke Their ribs, go to the catwalk on the roof of the bus in front of a platoon of soldiers. Maria was declared as the winner of the catwalk challenge and was rewarded with an opportunity to go to the Cosmopolitan headquarters. She chose Masha and Arina to go with her. Next morning, the girls arrive t the studio where they found out that they are going to have a nude body-painting photoshoot. All the girls did well especially Anastasia, who was photographer's favorite. At panel Anastasia was praised for finding a way to hide her flaws with her pose, Olga was also praised for finding creative poses and Arina who got the theme perfectly. In the end it was Ksenia T and Ksenia V who landed in the Bottom 2, Ksenia V for being unmemorable and uninspiring and Ksenia T, whose photo was praised but whose attitude during the shoot was unprofessional. In the end it was Ksenia's strong photos and three first call-outs that saved her. Ksenia V was eliminated.

Episode 8

The girls were in for a surprise when are told to ride horses, but Evgenia Frank took a turn for the worse when she fell of her horse. As the teach was over, the girls went home and found another Ksenia Mail. The girls arrived to their challenge which was a runway show for Maxim Rapoport in front of a big crowd, but the girls had to walk blindfolded which completely shocked all the girls. Daniel Kosenkov from episode 3 was there also, he wanted to see if the girls progressed or not. Anastasia had to walk with a tricky avaunt-grade garment and she was chosen to open the show. When she was walking her skirt started sliding, but she made it look like it was planned and later was commended for making it work. And Masha's runway walk was also very strong, but when she did her turn, her breast was exposed. Olga was also a strong contender and made a real change to her performance earlier in the week and Arina was also a strong runway walker. But it was Maria who won the challenge. Then the following day the girls were driven to a big SPA-center for their first underwater photo shoot for a new Pantene Aqua light. Before the shoot Olga got a new Makeover: her hair was cut a bit and dyed red, she asked the judges for that Makeover herself at previous panel. Then at the judging panel the judges were quit disappointed with overall performances of the girls, while Anastasia, Ksenia T, Olga and Evgenia T were declared as the best. Masha and Arina landed in the bottom two. Masha because her photo was bad and she was very inconsistent and Arina because her photo was average and she didn't have professional attitude during the whole competition and it concerned the judges, but it was Masha's efforts and determination which got her through while Arina was eliminated.

Episode 9

For this week's challenge, the models were taken first to the MSU University to have a teach with Ksenia Sobchak about dealing with the media. Then the girls were driven to one of the Moscow's restaurants where they were met by the famous Russian journalist Leonid Zakoshanskim. Leonid was very pleased with some girls, especially Masha Minigarova and the twins. In the end Masha was declared as the winner. She will attend MSFW as a reporter. But a shock came right after - one girl had to leave immediately. That girl was Anastasia, who didn't impress Leonid.

After the intellectual workout girls are sent to the Moscow central street - Arbat, where they have a paparazzi-photoshoot. At panel. the judges adored Maria's photo, she is complimented on becoming more feminine. Evgenia F is finally praised for her good photo, especially how good she posed during the photoshoot. Olga and Ksenia received, mixed reviews, but overall they have good photos. Masha is praised for winning the media challenge but her photo is not good. Liza's photo is deemed her worst yet, Ksenia wonders if she has got what it takes to be a top model. Evgenia T photo received praise but they judges are concerned that she gives them only one look in each photo. In the end, Liza and Evgenia T landed in the bottom two, and Liza is sent home for her inconsistent performance.

After the girls say goodbye to recently eliminated Evgenia T, the remaining five are flown to the city of dreams, New York City. The girls explore their new penthouse and meet with Karen Lee from Wilhelmina in Central Park to talk about their strengths and weaknesses. Later the girls are taken to Wilhelmina and meet with a casting director and each girl talks with him one on one to convince him to book her.

Maria is the challenge winner and picks Evgenia & Masha for a helicopter ride over Manhattan. Then the girls shoot on top of a skyscraper building representing a typical New York woman. Masha is criticised once again for ruining the photo with a bland facial expression but was saved by Olga's even worse photo
