Topps Tiles plc is a British national retailer based in Enderby. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange, and is a constituent of the FTSE SmallCap Index.
History
The first store was opened in Manchester in 1963, by Alan Brindle and Ted Derbyshire, and then the stores were sold/ merged with a London chain owned by Barry Bester & Stuart Williams. There are now over 340 stores across the UK. Topps has in 2014 opened boutique format stores in London and the North West. Originally the firm was based in Wilmslow, but is now based near Leicester at Grove Park, next to the M1. In turn, it is near Enderby and the B1114 (former A46). From 2007–2009, Topps Tiles sponsored Leicester City.
In November 2010, Topps Tiles launched a slogan, "Tiles for Everyone".
Products
Topps Tiles sells floor and wall tiles, natural stone and related products and accessories such as underfloor heating, tools, adhesives, grouts and cleaning products.
Market share
Topps Tiles have a 30% United Kingdom market share. In 2014, group revenue was £205.3M, with an operating profit of £42.5M. The 2014 annual report, gave the market share of Topps Tiles of the UK domestic tile sector as 30%, an increase on the previous year of 2%.
