Polska Liga Koszykówki Kobiet, a.k.a. Ford Germa Ekstraklasa for sponsorship reasons, is the premier women's basketball league in Poland. Founded in 1929, it has been carried out every year since except for 1935 and World War II.
Wisla Krakow is the most successful team in the championship with 21 titles, followed by AZS Wroclaw, Lotos Gdynia and LKS Lodz with fourteen, eleven and nine respectively. Gdynia holds the longest winning streak with eight titles in a row between 1998 and 2005.[1] As of 2012 the PLKK is one of four leagues granted three spots in the Euroleague along with France's LFB, Russia's Premier League and Spain's LFB.[2]
