Torsten Oltmanns
Torsten Oltmanns (born 6 October 1964) is a German author, economist and journalist who has written several books on marketing and change management. He is currently a partner and Global Marketing Director at the management consulting firm Roland Berger Strategy Consultants.
Life
Torsten Oltmanns studied Economics at the University of Cologne (Germany). He underwent training as a journalist on economics and politics. With a thesis on journalism, he obtained his diploma from the University of Cologne in 1993.[1][2] He published several articles touching on economic themes.[3]
He held positions at McKinsey, the executive board of Booz Allen Hamilton and the administrative staff of the German Federal Ministry of Defense,[4] where he oversaw the implementation of budget controlling.[5] Since 2004, he has acted as the Global Marketing Director of Roland Berger Strategy, working from its offices in Berlin (Germany), London (England) and Zurich (Switzerland).[6] From June 1 until December 31, 2011 Oltmanns headed the communication of the conglomerate Haniel as an interim manager. Oltmanns returned to Roland Berger in January 2012.[7]
Since 2004, Oltmanns has been the editor of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants' think:act brand, which appears in various formats and which recently received the "Best in Corporate Publishing" award from the International Corporate Media Awards.[8] The think:act series was awarded 2005, 2006[9] and 2007[10] with the BCP-Award in the category Corporate Publishing for "Financial Services / Real Estate / Consulting".[11] In 2011 the think:act publications received the Astrid Awards of MerComm Inc.[12][13]
Torsten Oltmanns is an Assistant Professor for Executive Communications at the University of Innsbruck (Austria)[14] and a Visiting Fellow of the University of Oxford at the Oxford University Centre for Corporate Reputation, a part of the Saïd Business School.[15] Since 2014 Torsten Oltmanns is Professor & Founding Dean of the Department of Management and Economics at the Quadriga Hochschule Berlin.[16]
Oltmanns is patron of the Atlantik-Brücke, a private, non-profit, nonpartisan association with the goal of building a bridge between Germany and the United States.[17] Torsten Oltmanns is also co-founder and supporter of the 2011 founded registered association “investigate” which provides financial resources for journalists to realize complex researches.[18] Oltmanns is also a member of the board of the German-Jewish association „Jewish Voice from Germany“, which agitates for the relationship between Jewish and German people.[19]
As a member of the delegation of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, a Strategic Partner of the World Economic Forum, Oltmanns has participated in the WEF Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters. His commentary and impressions of the world's most important economic summit were published in his blog Bulletin from Davos.[20][21]
