Rock the Ocean’s Tortuga Music Festival is an annual music festival that takes place in April, at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Founded by Huka Entertainment and the Rock The Ocean Foundation, the annual spring festival aims to raise awareness and support for ocean conservation. A portion of the ticket proceeds go towards helping our oceans. Throughout the years, over $250,000 has been raised for ocean conservation.[1]
The festival features multiple stages of live entertainment with a focus on country, rock and a variety of roots music. Past performers have included: Zac Brown Band, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Kenny Chesney, Lynyrd Skynyrd and more.[2] The 2016 edition of the festival expanded to 3 days, announcing Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw and Dierks Bentley as headliners each day.[3] People can enjoy top artists, while learning about ocean awareness.
Conservation Village
Each year, the festival features an area known as Conservation Village. The area holds interactive booths that contain games, exhibitions and displays with the focus of raising awareness of issues impacting the world's oceans and supporting marine research and conservation. The festival also aims to raise money to protect sea turtles that nest annually along South Florida's Atlantic seaboard.[4] Past Conservation Village partners have included: Nova Southeastern University Oceanographic Center, Broward County Sea Turtle Conservation Program, The Nature Conservancy, University of Miami Marine Conservation Program and many others. At the Conservation Village, the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation has also partnered up to raise ocean awareness with marine life artist and conversationalist, Guy Harvey. More than a dozen organizations were issued over $60,000 in funds, by the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation and the Rock the Ocean Foundation.[5]
Tickets and more
Festival tickets range from different prices and guests can choose among the three types of tickets.. The regular 3-day ticket is $199, the regular VIP 3-day ticket is $899 and the super VIP 3-day ticket is $1449. The VIP and super VIP ticket contains more than the general admission such as complimentary drinks, private bathrooms, VIP only food vendors, VIP entrance and exit, VIP will call, and more.[5] Payment plans are also available which allows one to purchase a ticket in three installments, over the course of a few months.[6]
If guests are planning to lodge near the festival, they can purchase a travel package which allows you to book your travel and festival tickets. Hotels that can be found in the packages include: Courtyard Fort Lauderdale Beach, W Hotel Fort Lauderdale and the Best Western Oceanside Ft. Lauderdale.[7]
