TouchBistro Inc. is a Toronto-based software company that makes the eponymous TouchBistro app, a restaurant point of sale system for the iPad. TouchBistro Inc. was founded by Alex Barrotti in 2010.[1] In November, 2013 TouchBistro received $4.5 million in seed funding from Relay Ventures.[1] Barrotti had previously founded INEX, a web-based online storefront creator, which he sold to Infospace (now Blucora) in 1999 for $45 million.[2]

Products

TouchBistro is available from the iTunes store. It is the top grossing Food and Beverages iTunes app in over 34 countries.[3] TouchBistro does not require an Internet connection, communicating with printers/cash drawers via local WIFI.[4]

TouchBistro Standard

TouchBistro Standard is a single terminal iPad app that supports tableside ordering, custom restaurant layouts, custom menus, bill splitting, sales reports, and an unlimited number of order and cash register printers.

TouchBistro Pro

TouchBistro Pro shares the same features with TouchBistro Standard but adds support for multiple iPads, allowing restaurants with more than one server to take orders tableside with their own iPad. TouchBistro Pro uses a Mac Mini as a server and synchs all iPads.

PayPal Partnership

In August, 2013, TouchBistro partnered with PayPal to facilitate restaurant payments via smartphones.[5][6]
