TraceParts SA is a service company specialized in providing 3D digital content for design and engineering.

The company helps part manufacturers to promote their 3D CAD models to engineers and designers all over the world via a web interface called TracePartsOnline.net.

TraceParts employs 150 staff in France and in its subsidiaries in Germany, the United States, England, China, Italy, Turkey and Brazil.

1. History

TraceParts was created in 2001 and has its head office in Saint Romain de Colbosc, France. The company is part of the Trace Group, which was founded in 1989 and is specialized in the development of CAD software for electrical and mechanical design. TraceParts was set up to meet the needs of designers and engineers in terms of Computer Assisted Design . The company provides access to hundreds of part-manufacturers’ catalogs through its online CAD platform.

2.1 Catalog publishing

TraceParts publishes CAD models for its customers using standardized technology in XML format and the ccDesigner solution.

TracePartsOnline.net is a library of parts that is accessible in 25 languages, with over 100 million free 2D and 3D CAD plans and models divided among more than 600 catalogs from major parts-manufacturers such as Airbus, Facom, Asco Numatics, Michelin, Legrand and Schneider Electric...

The parts are available in various standard formats (ISO, DIN, ANSI, etc.) and also in all the formats compatible with native CAD software packages, including PTC Creo Parametric, SolidWorks, CATIA, Pro/Engineer, Inventor, Solid Edge, TopSolid, thinkdesign, Unigraphics, Alibre Design, ACIS, STEP, IGES, DWG, DXF, ...

The TraceParts platform enables engineers and designers to get in direct contact with the manufacturers who make their CAD files available and request a quote.

2.1.2. The TraceParts mobile application

In 2014, TraceParts created a free mobile application available on App store and Google Play which groups together the content of its CAD library. Engineers and designers registered on the TraceParts platform can access exactly the same catalogs as those on TracePartsOnline.net using their smartphone or tablet.

TraceParts also offers part manufacturers the opportunity to create their own mobile application.

3. Digital Marketing Solutions

TraceParts proposes 3 types of B2B e-Marketing solutions: · sending e-mail marketing campaigns, · publishing banners on the TracePartsOnline.net portal, · publishing banners in newsletters from TraceParts.

3.1. E-mail marketing campaigns

TraceParts sends e-mail marketing campaigns on behalf of its customers in order to promote their products and services. The campaign targets are drawn from a database of opt-in e-mail addresses made up of design professionals registered on the TraceParts CAD platform.

Web banners

TraceParts has horizontal and vertical advertising spaces on the TraceParts CAD platform to present its customers’ products or services.

Other banner advertising spaces are also available in a monthly newsletter.

4. Supplier parts-management software

In 2013, TraceParts developed TraceParts Enterprise, a web-based Supplier Parts-Management software system, which gives total control over the CAD models and technical information that design teams can use (or re-use). This solutions draws on the content of the TraceParts CAD platform and allows to streamline suppliers’ 3D content.

5. TraceParts Academic

Since the beginning of the 1990s, TraceParts has provided a specific educational offer. This consists of customized online 3D libraries that allow users to download 2D and 3D files that can be directly integrated in a CAD software package.
