Tracker Marine Group is the #1 boat manufacturer in the United States and specializes in fishing and recreational boats. It was founded in 1978 by John Morris, founder of Bass Pro Shops. The company is currently owned by Bass Pro Shops, and is most popular for the Bass Tracker, the first fish-ready bass boat. Tracker Marine has made over 750,000 boat sales since 1978. All Tracker Marine Group Boats, and their accompanying trailers, are manufactured in plants located in southern Missouri and Miami, Oklahoma. The company headquarters is located in Springfield, Missouri.
History
The company dates back the late 1970s when John Morris (founder of Bass Pro Shops) came up with the idea of selling a ready-to-fish boat. The hull design was different than other hull designs at the time. It included a custom trailer, fish finder, trolling motor and power-matched outboard motor. The boat was released in 1978, and was met with great success, launching the Tracker Boat company. Over time, Tracker Boats acquired other boat brands and ultimately the Tracker Boat Company became the Tracker Marine Group. Tracker sells their boats at Bass Pro Shops retail stores, retail centers owned by Tracker, as well as a network of Independent boat retailers in the United States, Canada, and in more than 25 other countries around the world.
