Transmedics, located in Andover, Massachusetts, is a medical device company involved in the design and production of new transplant devices. The company is responsible for designing the Organ Care System. Based on the company's warm blood perfusion technology, the Organ Care System is designed to maintain organs in a functioning state outside the human body to optimize their health and to allow real time clinical evaluation. This device allowed the first 'beating-heart' transplant to take place.
